Love your clothes properly

Do you love your DRYKORN products as much as we do? Sometimes even well-meant care can be too much. That's why we're giving you a few important tips in our Care Guide to ensure that your favorite item of today is also your favorite item of tomorrow.

Pay attention to care labels

The right washing temperature, the best possible cleaning method and the right drying method - the symbols and instructions on our labels give you the right care instructions for each material. The QR code label also provides access to our detailed Care Guide at any time. So don't just cut off the label. Keep it, so you can properly care for your garment long after you've bought it.

Wash only if you need to

Don't wash your clothes after every wear. For many garments, such as jeans and sweaters, it is sufficient to air them out occasionally. This protects the material, helps the environment and saves money. Do you feel like your clothes need a little freshening up? Then treat them with steam first. Steamers such as the CIRRUS_LITE_STEAMER are a simple way to reduce odors, surface dirt and bacteria.

Using the right detergent and less of it

With the right detergent, colors stay bright and fibers new-looking for longer. A general advice here is: less is more. If your garments aren’t heavily soiled, a little goes a long way. This saves you money and is also easier on the environment. So what should you use? First: no heavy-duty detergents for colored clothing, as they contain bleaching agents and can damage the color pigments. Use detergents specifically made for colorful garments instead. It is also advisable to separate dark laundry from light colors and whites. Be especially careful with fabrics from animal hair, such as wool or alpaca as one wrong wash cycle can ruin them forever. We recommend washing them by hand using an enzyme-free detergent – look for moisturizing contents in the detergent, for example lanolin. For absolutely flawless garment care while washing, we recommend the use of different detergents depending on the fiber type in your garment. The concentrated detergents from kaëll are an ideal choice here.

Wash cold

It is usually sufficient to wash your clothes at 30 °C. This saves energy, protects colors and prevents the materials from shrinking. Towels and underwear should be washed at 60 °C. Together with the use of heavy-duty detergent, you can also prevent germs in the washing machine.

Reduce the spin speed

Low spin speeds between 600 and 1,200 rpm ensure fewer creases and reduce wear on your garments. We also recommend using a laundry bag for delicate materials. This not only protects your clothes but can also reduce the release of microplastics with special laundry bags such as the Guppyfriend.

Air dry whenever possible

Air dry your clothes instead of using a dryer. Hang them on a clothesline or lay them on a drying rack to conserve energy and extend the lifespan of your garments. Hanging clothes in direct sunlight can cause color fading, so choose a shaded area if possible.

Steam your pieces

Let off steam rather than ironing, save yourself some energy and nerves. Steaming with the CIRRUS_LITE_STEAMER is also gentle on the fibers of your clothes. If you wash your clothes on a reduced spin speed and hang them on a hanger immediately afterwards, you can also prevent creases.

Store correctly

A clean and dry environment for your favorite items is a must! While knitwear should be carefully folded in the wardrobe, delicate fabrics should be put on a hanger. Use sturdy, wide hangers for coats and suits. To avoid creases it is best not to hang them too close together. Store rarely worn clothes in garment bags and protect them against moth infestation with scented bags filled with cedar wood or lavender.

Care symbols and instructions

The golden rule is: pay attention to the care label when washing. To help you a little when reading a care label, we put together an overview of the most important care instructions:

Care Symbols

3 30 °C Normal wash
b 30 °C Mild fine wash
4 40 °C Normal wash
5 40 °C Mild fine wash
e 40 °C Very mild wash
h Hand wash
j Gentle hand wash
n Do not wash

Note: Make sure you use the right washing programs, paying particular attention to the temperature and spin cycle. Find out more about hand washing here.

Caution: “Easy-care” means that these garments must be treated gently. For such “delicate” garments, use the delicate cycle, do not fill the machine all the way with laundry, use less detergent and select a low spin speed.

y Do not tumble dry
x Normal drying process
z Mild drying processes

Air drying is always the gentlest method. Only use a tumble dryer if the care label deems it safe for the piece.

I_ Do not bleach

CAUTION: Heavy-duty detergents contain bleaching agents and brighteners to prevent white textiles from turning gray. However, you should not use these detergents on colored garments, as their color intensity may be impaired.

t Do not iron
a Do not iron hot. Iron without steam.
q Do not iron hot
r Iron moderately hot
s Iron hot

NOTE: Steaming is much gentler on textiles than conventional ironing. We recommend the CIRRUS NO 2 STEAMER. We recommend the CIRRUS_LITE_STEAMER.

p Professional dry-cleaning (Perchloroethylene)
P_ Mild professional dry-cleaning (Perchloroethylene)
w Professional wet-cleaning
W_ Mild professional wet-cleaning
k Do not dry clean

CAUTION: If a garment is labeled “dry cleaning”, it should not be washed in the washing machine. The trims inside could come loose, the fibers could swell and the garment could lose its shape. Many factors can be decisive, so you should always follow the cleaning instructions.

Hand wash

Delicate products such as wool should usually be washed by hand. Luckily, hand washing is a meditative, uncomplicated task!

You will need
Hand washing is no wizardry, and you certainly have the most important tools for it at home:

  • a large bowl or bucket
  • a gentle detergent
  • lukewarm water (approx. 30 °C or less)

How to hand wash

  1. Dissolve the recommended amount of a suitable detergent in lukewarm water.
  2. Soak your garment completely and knead it gently for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Then leave it to rest in the washing solution for about 10 minutes.
  4. Take the piece out. Replace the dirty water with clean water and rinse the detergent residue out of your garment.
  5. Gently squeeze the water out of the garment by wrapping it in a towel. However, never twist it or wring it out!
  6. Lay the piece flat to air dry, either on a fresh towel or on a drying rack

Special case: Cold wash
Cold washing means (hand) washing with water that is no more than 20°C cold.
A little tip: If you set your tap to the maximum cold setting, the average temperature of your tap water is usually 15 – 20°C.

Your laundry machine’s hand wash setting
You can certainly use your machine's hand wash program if an item of clothing is marked as hand wash. However, we cannot guarantee that the garment will survive the wash cycle undamaged and therefore recommend a proper hand wash for such items.

Material Care

What is the best way to care for wool? What does your suit need to keep its shape? With our garment care manual, you find the most important basics for the correct care of special materials and garments in one place.

Garment care

the durable and versatile fabric. With the right care, your denim pieces will be your companions for years to come.

WASHING FREQUENCY
Use stain remover whenever possible and only wash denim when you think it is really necessary. Washing denim too often may cause it to fade and lose its shape. New denim can stain. When washing it for the first time, you should therefore either wash it alone or with fabrics of a similar color.

COLD WASH
Wash your jeans in cold water to preserve their color and prevent excessive shrinkage. Turning your denim garments inside out before washing also prevents excessive rubbing and chafing.

NO DRYER
If you want to prevent your denim from shrinking, you should not use the tumble dryer. Instead, leave your denim garments out to air dry. However, avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause the color to fade, just like machine drying.

MENDING AND REPAIRING
You can mend or repair tears or holes in denim with little effort. This extends the life of your garment and gives it a unique, personal look.

Wool knitwear wants to be flattered just as much as it flatters you. Treat it to a hand wash to maintain its unique feel-good factor.

SPOT CLEANING
If there are stains, dab the affected area carefully with a clean cloth immediately. It is important that you do not rub to avoid spreading the stain or damaging the fabric.

HAND WASH
The best way to wash your knitwear is by hand. You can find out exactly how to do this here.

Our recommendation: KAËLL KASCHMIRLIEBE

DRYING
Do not use a tumble dryer on knitwear. The heat and movement can shrink and damage it. Instead, lay your knitwear flat on a clean, absorbent towel and remove excess water by carefully rolling it up. Then dry the garment flat on a drying rack or a fresh towel. Protect it from direct heat or sunlight. If necessary, pull the garment back to its original shape.

STORAGE
Fold the garment carefully so that it does not stretch or warp. Do not hang knitwear on a hanger, as it could lose its shape over time. Cedar wood or lavender not only give your textiles a pleasantly delicate fragrance, but also help to protect them from moth infestation.

REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
If you notice loose threads or minor damage to your knitwear, you should repair it or have it repaired immediately to prevent your piece from becoming unwearable. Many natural materials, especially wool and fine hair, tend to form small nodules. This is a natural characteristic of the material called pilling, which cannot be avoided. However, you can simply treat the surface with a fabric shaver. Afterwards, the garments often look brand new again.

Our recommendation: PILO NO 2 FABRIC SHAVER

A suit needs more than just the standard care program. The care label shows you what you can do to keep it looking as good as yourself.

DRY CLEANING
To ensure that suits keep their shape, they should be dry-cleaned. For small stains, however, it is better to dab the affected area carefully with a clean cloth immediately after the stain happened. It is important that you do not rub to avoid spreading the stain or damaging the fabric.

Our recommendation: STEAMERY STAIN REMOVER

STEAMING
Steam your suit to remove creases and freshen up the fabric between cleanings. To do this, hang it on a stable hanger, steam it evenly and keep the steamer at a safe distance from the fabric to avoid damaging it.

Our recommendation: STEAMERY CIRRUS GARMENT STEAMER

GENTLE IRONING
If you need to iron your suit, use a pressing cloth or a clean, damp cloth to protect the fabric from direct heat. Choose the right temperature for the fabric and iron using gentle movements without applying too much pressure. Avoid ironing over trims such as buttons or pockets.

PROPER STORAGE
Use a sturdy, padded hanger to support the shoulders and prevent sagging. Use the garment bag you received the suit in. Due to its breathable material, the garment bag allows moisture to escape, ensures adequate ventilation and protects against dust and dirt. Use cedar wood or lavender sachets to prevent moth infestation and ensure a pleasant, delicate fragrance.

MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS
We recommend that you have alterations and repairs carried out by specialist tailors to ensure that your suit still fits perfectly after being modified.

The natural beauty for long-lasting relationships, as long as you give it the care it needs.

WASHING
It's best to wash your linen clothes by hand. You can find out exactly how to do this here. You can also use the delicate cycle of your washing machine in combination with a mild detergent for delicate fabrics. Avoid bleach, wash the linen items separately and make sure that the water is at a maximum temperature of 30 °C.

Our recommendation: KAËLL LEINE WEBER

DRYING
Linen can shrink when machine dried. We therefore recommend that you gently pull the garment into shape after washing and allow it to air dry.

GENTLE IRONING OR STEAMING
Due to its natural properties, linen can crease easily. By steaming your garment after washing, the stiff linen fibers will become soft and beautiful again. Use the linen or medium heat setting on your iron. Ironing the fabric slightly damp or using a steam iron is the best way to get rid of creases.

PROPER STORAGE
Fold your linen clothes carefully and avoid storing them in piles, as this can lead to permanent creases. You can also hang them up, using padded hangers to prevent deformation. However, keep them in a closet as direct sunlight could cause the colors to fade. Cedar wood or lavender sachets provide a pleasant, delicate fragrance and prevent moth infestation.

the durable, heavy-duty everyday companion. With the right care, you can turn your favorite piece into an heirloom.

MOISTURE
You can protect the leather of your garment from moisture with a high-quality waterproofing agent. If the leather does get wet, gently dab it with a clean, dry cloth and allow it to air dry. Do not use any additional heat sources for drying, such as a heater, hairdryer or direct sunlight, as these can damage the leather.

CLEANING
With smooth leather, you should carefully dab off stains with a slightly damp cloth. Be careful not to soak and rub the leather, as this will spread the stain and make it harder to remove. Use a soft brush to remove dust, dirt and other impurities from suede. If you are unsure or have a stubborn stain, we advise you to seek professional leather cleaning.

CARE
Care for smooth leather regularly with leather conditioner to restore the leather's natural oils, prevent cracks and keep it supple. Apply the conditioner with a soft cloth and rub it in gently using circular movements. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess conditioner.

STORAGE
Store leather in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. This should prevent the leather from being exposed to direct sunlight and thus protect it from losing its color. However, never store it in plastic bags or airtight containers, as this can lead to moisture accumulation and mold growth.
